Model // Concept

This is the concept of the business, the core of what it is about. The concept is driven by principles and societal context . In turn, it produces individual and societal change . Explore the top level model groupings ( Principles > Concept > Change > Context ).

There are two major sections in the business concept – strategy and draw/engagement. Additionally, there are two major factors – implicit and explicit.

The business strategy focuses on what the business does in a higher level sense – both in an implicit and explicit sense. It determines the draw to or engagement with the business, people come to participate in what is offered. Engagement in turn produces changes in the individuals, first in an unidentified way.

Throughout the business, there is a dual aspect of implicit and explicit. The business offers things both in an implicit way – felt more than rationally noticed, and also an explicit way – clear and concrete. By far the implicit offerings are the real value of the business, they are things which foundationally change one’s core identity of self. Life experiences which redefine the sense of purpose, values, approach to life, etc. However, these topics are difficult to express and difficult to put value on. Thus, the explicit offerings serve as a clear medium of exploring the implicit world. I come to do this explicit thing, as seen by my rational mind, however my larger mind knows I come to experience all these other things.

The implicit strategies are core about a providing a sense of “Other”. They focus around an immersive atmosphere, a special place, filled with unique experiences. They are similar to the international or intercultural experience. I exit my very familiar culture and experience a new culture.

The explicit strategies are about concrete and practical things. Skill development. Activities.

Draw and engagement are these strategies put into practice. The implicit is seen in the atmosphere and design of the business. Purposeful designing the business to induce profound and powerful experiences. A special, set apart, space. The explicit focus largely on activities such as skill development – classes, events, workshops; socializing – networking, making friends; or just a space to chill, relax, focus, work, etc.
